NewDayJustin was asking me if there are Ivy League schools that accept transfer students! Well, we had a great time discussing and I discovered that there are many other students like Justin who still want an answer to this question.
When asked the reason for the question, Justin said and I quote “Ivy league schools are prestigious and highly competitive schools, I feel they may not accept students who are transferring from other schools since they’ve already had enough students”.
Well, Justin was wrong in his thinking. Ivy Schools are prestigious schools that understand that sometimes, students get the feeling of wanting to transfer to a new school for many reasons.
Such reasons vary, sometimes, it could be poor standard from the college they are attending, other times, it could probably be a relocation from one city to another.
Well, if you wish to transfer to an Ivy league school, then you don’t not to worry.

Necessary Qualifications for College Transfer
It is important to take note of the possible qualities that are usually looked out for in students that wish to study in Ivy league schools.
Transferring to an ivy league school might seem very difficult because Ivy league schools are highly prestigious and competitive with high admission criteria.
However it is not impossible to transfer. One thing to check for is your eligibility. The following qualities should be put into much consideration especially when applying for an ivy league school:
1. Your Grades
Ivy league school students are usually known to have good grades, hence you must make sure your grades are worth the chase.
Applicants with high grades from their previous college will be considered first, therefore check your grades and improve on them.
2. Engagement In Extracurricular Activities
It is important that you show your leadership skills as this is one of the criteria that can increase your chances of getting in.
3. Tested Knowledge
It is only normal for the school you wish to apply to test your knowledge and intelligence level, hence be ready to take standardized tests.

2. Yale University Transfer Admission

1. Official Transcripts:
Your official high school transcript, as well as transcripts from all previously attended institutions, are required.
2. SAT Scores:
If you are attending a college that required you to submit SAT or ACT scores, then we require that you send us copies of those scores. If you are attending a college that did not, your scores are not required but are requested.
3. Letters of Recommendation:
Two letters of recommendation from college instructors or teaching assistants on college stationery are required.
If you are planning to pursue a Sc.B. degree, we recommend that one of these recommendations be from a science or math instructor.
4. Essay:
An essay or personal statement is required for admission consideration.
5. Application Fee:
Candidates for entry in either semester should submit their completed applications and the $75 application fee no later than March 1.
6. Interview:
We do not offer personal interviews to transfer students. You will be contacted directly if the admission committee needs further information.
Other Requirements:
Transfer students should not submit supplementary materials such as music, art portfolios, and/or writing samples. They are not required and will not be reviewed.
4. Princeton University Transfer Admission
Princeton is a private research university in Princeton, New Jersey. It was founded in 1746 in Elizabeth as the College of New Jersey and is the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the United States.

The Princeton University transfer requirements are as follows:

- Applicants must also submit the Princeton Transfer Supplement.
- For transfer applicants, a graded paper may come from a course taken within the last two years of schooling.
While it is recommended that it should be in the subjects of either English or history, it is also important to also consider papers from courses in the humanities and social sciences for transfer applicants, provided they meet all of the other requirements listed.

1. SAT Scores:
If you have previously taken the SAT or ACT, you should have an official score report sent to Cornell by the testing agency. It is not necessary to take the SAT or ACT if you have not previously done so.
2. Essay:
The Cornell Questions and Writing Supplement (CA) are required of all applicants. These sections include important Cornell-specific information.
3. Application Fee:
Applications must be submitted with the $80 application fee or fee waiver in order to be considered.
4. Interview:
While most of our colleges and schools do not require or offer an interview, an interview is required for architecture applicants and strongly recommended for fine arts applicants.
Other Requirements:
An Academic Evaluation, A College Report, and a Mid-Term Report are required. Each of our undergraduate colleges or schools may have specific requirements and prerequisites that you’ll need to meet, or require supporting materials.
Does Columbia, UPenn, or Dartsmouth Accept Transfer?
Apart from the previous ivy schools that I mentioned, there are other Ivy League Schools that you might want to consider. Other ivy schools that may accept transfer students are:
- Columbia University
- University of Pennsylvania
- Dartmouth University
So both Columbia, UPenn, and Dartmouth will accept transfer students that meet their transfer admissions’ requirements.
If you are a community college student who would like to transfer, then give it a try because Ivy schools also accept transfer students from community colleges.
Nevertheless, ensure you check for eligibility before applying for any of these schools. You do not want your application to be among the thousands that are usually rejected but among the few that are accepted.
