JAMB change of institution 2023 Starting Date
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the starting date for the 2023 change of institution.
According to JAMB, candidates who wish to switch from the original school they selected during their JAMB registration to another institution can now do so through JAMB change of data portal.
As stated by JAMB, the commencement for the 2023 change of institution will start from August 2022. From this date, all interested candidates can apply and switch their institution.
How Much is Change of Institution?
Currently, JAMB has not made provision for free change of institution. So the concerned candidates are mandated to pay for this service.
According to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), candidates are to pay two thousand five hundred naira only as a service fee to enable them do their change of institution.
Do I have to pay Each time I want to Change Institution?
Yes! Although candidates are allowed to change their institution for a number of times, candidates are to pay each time they want to change.
For example, if you pay and change your institution now and later want to change again, you’ll have to make a fresh payment for it.
So each time you want to change, you will have to make another payment of the same amount to enable you use the service.
Can I do Change of Institution after Post UTME?
Yes!
Doing your Post UTME for a particular school does not and will not affect your chances of changing your institution.
To clarify more, JAMB does not have any business with any school you go for Post UTME, but where the issue will come is;
- Any school that requires candidates to make them their first choice might not accept if you didn’t or haven’t changed to make them your first choice-institution.
- When the school admit you without you changing officially to the school on your JAMB portal. In cases like this, you will have to do JAMB regularisation when you graduate to enable you go for NYSC.
Can I do Change of Institution on my Phone?
No more!
Before now, JAMB gave candidates the access to change their institution from anywhere using any device, including mobile phones.
But recently, JAMB change of institution cannot be carried out using mobile phone due to the new JAMB policies regarding the JAMB change of data.
Can Cyber Cafe do Change of Institution?
So sad to announce this, but cyber cafe can no longer do JAMB change of institution for candidates due to the new JAMB policies regarding JAMB change of data.
All interested candidates that want to use this service are advised to do it at the JAMB approved centers to avoid invalidation.
You can only consult a trusted cyber cafe for guidance and instructions on where to, how to and the requirements for doing it. But they won’t be able to do it themselves.
Where can I do Change of Institution?
The only approved places for JAMB change of institution are JAMB CBT centers. To do this, you have to visit a JAMB CBT centre.
You have to visit there with the requirements and documents and inform the CBT attendant that you want to apply for a change of institution.

Can I do change of institution after Accepting admission
No… You will not be able to change your institution through the normal procedure after accepting the admission on JAMB CAPS portal. But there are some other ways that you can change your institution after gaining admission.
This is what you should know, immediately you accept your admission on JAMB CAPS portal, JAMB will close its admission chapter with you.
The system will automatically capture that you have been offered admission and it will capture your admission details including the details of institution that offered you the admission and save on your data.
This are the details that will be used for mobilization when you want to go for NYSC. But if you want to change your institution after gaining admission, then you have to consult JAMB for an update or you can do regularisation.
JAMB Change of Institution Closing Date 2023
The JAMB Change of institution for 2023 will end on 25th March 2023 for both UTME and Direct entry candidates (subject to change by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board)

How many times can I do Change of Institution 2022
Depending on how often you want to change your mind, some candidates are always in a dilemma of whether or not they should change their institution.
But here is the truth, JAMB does not permit multiple times change of institution. Candidates may be allowed to change their institution once and after that, they may subject to further requirements to do more changes.
But I will personally advise candidates to avoid often change of institution because some institutions may not allow fresh candidates to change to them especially when the sales of their Post UTME Screening is over.
Secondly, change of institution requires time for it to reflect on JAMB portal for your institution to confirm that you truly choose them. So I’m cases where the deadline for the sales of the institution Post UTME form is very close, then you may miss out from the exercise.
Can I do change of institution twice (two times)
Yes but conditionally. Like I said earlier, JAMB does not often and frequent changes to a candidate’s data so as to avoid conflicts to the candidate’s admission.
So candidates may be allowed to change their institution once and after that, they may subject to further requirements to do more changes.
Can I Do change of institution 4 times?
No! Candidates are not allowed to do change of institution up to 4 times. That’s too much and JAMB cannot handle this kind of changes.
For example, one change of institution may take up to 7 days before it reflects on your new institution’s admission portal. Meanwhile, JAMB has about two months to process admission.
So imagine imagine that JAMB has to update your institution’s information every 7 days for one month and they’re doing this for about five hundred thousand candidates or more. Uh! This will be too for them to handle.
Can I change my institution 3 times?
No! I’m stead of thinking of changing your institution often, its better to plan it intensively by asking questions and making findings before you even change it for the first time.
But if you have already changed it like two times but still want to change more then you have to consult the JAMB office in your state for proper guidance and direction.
But if you haven’t change yet then never plan of changing your institution up to three times because it may not work out the way you thought.
Does change of institution affect admission?
Yes! Change of institution may affect your admission in different ways. Below are the possible ways that change of institution may affect your admission:
- It may take up to 7 days before your change of institution can reflects on your new institution’s admission portal and before that time, they may close their Post UTME admission screening portal
- Some institutions may not allow fresh candidates to change to them especially when the sales of their Post UTME Screening is over.
- Change of institution takes time before it reflects on JAMB portal for your institution to confirm that you truly choose them.
- Some institutions don’t accept late applicants which makes their chances of gaining admission very low.
How long does it take for change of institution to reflect?
It takes a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of 7 days for your change of institution to reflect on your JAMB portal and your new institution’s admission portal.
In cases where your change of institution does not reflect after 7 days, you may have to revisit the CBT center for complaints.
The only reason why your change may not reflect on your portal after 7 days is wrong update by the CBT center; that’s if they didn’t do it well.
